“My work explores the fragility and resilience of the human condition and natural world; a delicate balance shared by the entirety of existence.”
Welsh ceramic artist Rhian Jones creates ceramic sculptures embodying the awareness of nature influenced by Japanese philosophies of aesthetics.
In her earlier career inspired by the concept of Wabi-Sabi, Jones was recognised by internationally renowned ceramic publication, Ceramic Review as ‘one to watch’ (issue 292) and has since gone on to feature in exhibitions throughout the UK and private art collections around the world.
Jones began her relationship with ceramics mastering the art of building impressive large scale sculptures, concentrating her practice on the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic and incorporating 24ct gold Kintsugi embellishments enhancing the impact of her hand built pit fired vessels. In subsequent years Jones’ sculptures have evolved, expressing a minimal style with an emphasis on tactile surfaces and quiet beauty.
Represented by Richeldis Fine Art, Jones releases limited collections thereafter accepting individual commissions.
